rules on helicopters over water / sea?
vfr r44 robinson/similar. how many miles can you go off shore? i know over the Solent to isle of Wight is ok, (1.5miles), what about channel islands /france?
please supply a caa website link / other link with details if possible. i cant find any. i'm sure to france would be ifr rating. but to isle of wight, do you need inflatable floats / any other equipment ? can 1.5 miles over water be done on vfr?
i dont own a heli, just interested. thanks
ifr rating (assuming vfr conditions) wont be required but a flight plan will need to be filed and the correct equipment carried which i believe are personal floatation devices. There is no limit on how far you can go offshore but beyond a certain amount (not sure how much) a flight plan has to be filed with the relevant information. Check in the air navigation order to be certain.
