Worried about PTS syndrome in a friend after an incident at the pool!?
Okay basically I work as lifeguard at my local pool and a couple of weeks ago I was on shift with my good friend and colleague. We are both eighteen and a little girl about two who was in the main pool with her mother and twin baby siblings. As one of the twins distracted the mother the little girl managed to kick herself into the deep end, she was in an Inflatable Ring. I was assigned to watch the slide area but I heard the whistle and saw my friend leap into the pool. The little girl had slipped through her ring and gone under the water and when my friend pulled her out she was unconscious. He gave her CPR and tried his best but she died in his arms. Ever since he has not been the same, I'm afraid he has post traumatic stress, he wont come back to work and he barely leaves the house and I suspect he is suffering anxiety but every time I try to get him help he refuses it and shuts me out...what should I do?
